This has been one of my favourite local events for as long as I can remember, and I am thrilled to be returning for the second time in 2024.
Saltwood Castle has a long and colourful history. The gardens are open just twice every year and what a treat they are. Every inch the fortress, the grounds are littered with moats, fortifications and subterranean vaults. On the day, plant and craft stalls are nicely spaced throughout the formal and wild areas of the garden. There are delicious teas and homemade cakes and archery demonstrations with the Castle Moat Archers. Watching the ostentation of peacocks strutting their stuff is always a delightful distraction.
Sunday, 8th September, 10 am - 4 pm.
Admission: TBC. Proceeds in aid of Jane Clark’s charities and the ongoing restoration of the castle.
